Why we are Conducting a Blood Donation Camp?

blood donation

When it comes organisation a public event for a social cause there are a dozen of good options. You can organise a marathon or a cycle rally to raise money for charity, host a party or a concert but what about blood donation? Why is giving blood donation so important?

“Blood donation is a great way to give back to the community”.

Blood donation is a vital part of healthcare. Every day, people all over the world need blood transfusions to survive. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, an estimated 118.5 million blood donations are collected globally each year. That’s a lot of blood! And while many people think that blood banks have an endless supply, the truth is the need for blood donation is constant and ongoing.

Reasons Why Blood Donation Matters

There are a lot of reasons why blood donation is so important. Here are just three of them:

  1. Blood can only be stored for a limited time.

This means that there is always a need for new donations. And because blood can only be stored for some time, it’s important to donate regularly. Just one pint of blood can save up to three lives, so you can imagine the impact that regular donations can have!

  1. Blood transfusions are used for more than just accidents and emergencies.

Blood transfusions are used for,

  • Complex medical procedures and cancer patients,
  • People with severe trauma following disasters,
  • Children with severe anemia as a result of malnutrition
  • Women with complications of pregnancy and more.

54 % of blood transfusions are given to children under 5 years of age and 76% to old age globally. By donating blood, you could be helping someone in need of a life-saving transfusion.

  1. It’s a quick and easy way to give back.

Donating blood only takes about 20 minutes from start to finish, and it’s relatively painless (just a little bit of a needle stick!). Compared to other volunteering opportunities, blood donation is definitely one of the easier ways to give back.

Conclusion:

According to WHO every two seconds someone is in need of blood. If you’re looking for a volunteer opportunity that is impactful and easy to do, consider donating blood! Blood donors are always needed and your donation could save a life!
